Glad to tell you that X-EUROPE was updated to version 2.1.1.:)
This is an update with improvements on piers, changes for Italy in the mid and south, more trees in cities and using the latest OSM data, see changelog at download page. Performance should be equal to the latest version, some test user told me it’s better. 😉
Two short remarks: You have to install or upgrade to the latest OpenSceneryX library and if you are using ortho sceneries please change the library.txt in layer 2 scenery. And please read the Manual.
More than 500 hours of work, plus work of my core team members (thanks to Axel, Roland and Sven for the help and patience with me) plus help from others (Claudio, David, Giancarlo, Henry, Kim, Mike, Paolo) plus kind permission from Austin Meyer Laminar Research (without it wouldn’t be possible) to use and rework the XP11 objects, that’s all behind the new “X-Europe” scenery for XP11 and XP10. I hope you remember when you download and use the scenery. 😉
Thanks to all helping me reaching the finish line! :-))
In a few days, X-Europe will be online to download. It’s a new scenery using XP11 objects like the standard scenery, but the objects are not set on an autogen rule, they are set like they are in OpenStreetMap (OSM) data, which leads to a more realistic (some people say stunning) look and feel. Meanwhile the release candidate is generated, you could see results of different demo flights with older versions on YouTube, even a comparism between various scenery configurations (Ortho4Xp, Standard, X-Europe):
This is the first step with default objects for Europe, the second step will bring localized objects for countries, so you will recognize where you fly if you simply look outside the window. It’s planned to make small country packages for e.g. Italy/Mediterranean area, France, the Alps, Denmark, GB, Norway and so on. The country packages will change objects in this country or region to typical objects.
Introducing the new ‘w2xp_Europe_objects VFR-Landmarks’ which is meant for XP11 users (and XP10 too) with standard scenery or HD Mesh Scenery v3 installed to improve the look of XP with visual objects like chimneys, radio masts and communication towers, churches, mosques, wind turbines, solar panel fields, flags, lighthouses, windmills, cranes, water towers, tanks, observation towers, campaniles, cooling towers, piers and boats.
It doesn’t influence performance, files installed are only 117 MB, 43 MB to download. It uses a library, so changing or adding objects is fast and easy. Refer to the ReadMe if you want to do so. Download at http://simheaven.com/?page_id=14813
