Updates v2.0 for all X-A packages

Microsoft published on github computer generated building footprints for various countries: USA, Canada, Australia and parts of South America and Africa. Thanks to user @ueid who did the script, we are proud that we now included these footprints into the sceneries to complete and fill poor OSM data.

An impressive number of 213,442,146 buildings are newly added to the continental sceneries.

The last months and weeks I generated > 100,000 tiles, some multiple times, and > 32 GB of data. And we reworked US houses and churches, thanks to Pete for his help. New versions 2.0 are available for

  • X-ANTARCTICA
  • X-ASIA

Key features of the new versions 2.0:

  • built on latest OSM data
  • Microsoft building footprints included where available
  • Layer 3a-details included (you may already know from X-Europe)

X-EUROPE 5.3, Seasons, Mods

X-EUROPE 5.3

X-EUROPE was updated to v5.3, available as full download or update file from 5.2/5.2.1 to 5.3. Main features are in layer 4-scenery: I’ve corrected the preprocessing which lead in v5.2 to missing height tags and thus smaller objects and buildings and new: complex buildings (building:part in OSM) are now generated.

This version will be the blueprint for next upcoming scenery packages, starting X-AFRICA and then X-AMERICA

X-EUROPE Seasons

The download was updated to 5.3, which covers new VFR objects in layer 1-vfr.

X-EUROPE Network Mods

There is a modification for the network available to change vegetation and tunnel objects along highways. In the default network (this is roads_EU.net from XP11) highways may have trees along highways:

Using the mod you can change the vegetation to bushes:

Or eliminiate the vegetation along highways, which is my prefered option:

The second mod, sometimes at tile borders you may see tunnels where in reality no tunnel is:

Using the mod you can eliminate the tunnel objects:

In the download of Network mods, the mods are set by default to no vegetation and no tunnels. If you use this mod, please send me a feedback, as I would like to include these mods into X-EUROPE.

X-EUROPE 5.2
This full update has many improvements using the latest OSM data:
– better performance
– 278 new vfr objects
– FlyAgis asynchronous wind-turbines added
– new farm and hotel facades
– minor changes to layer 3, 4 and 7, all new generated
Delete older versions of X-Europe before installing the new version. You still need the simHeaven Vegetation Library and OpenSceneryX library.

Winter is coming… yep, I’m a fan of Game of Thrones… FlyAgi did deep winter textures for the brandnew X-Europe 5.2 changing buildings via SAM to winter textures.

X-AMERICA
X-AMERICA covers North, Central and South America! There is a beta version having houses in European style. I will rework layer 4-scenery and change red roof houses to gray roof, change building for central and south America, but actually I am still looking for support doing the houses in American style, which is different from European houses.
If you could help with doing objects in different sizes, please let me know. I intend to use these objects even for Asia and Australia which will follow after America.

X-AFRICA
There is a beta version, layer 4-scenery will be reworked and even some textures to more white colours, maybe by end of November the X-AFRICA should be final.
